Round 2 winners (UPDATE)

Sat Sep 19, 2009, 4:45 PM
:iconludren: + :iconrezoul: vs. :iconkaihayasaka: + :iconemberpheonix:
Condition: None, other than the universal and widespread conditions.
Winner:
:iconludren: + :iconrezoul:
Reasoning: The match was very, very, very close. Ludren, despite his limited access to a computer, continued to impress us with his abilities. Rezoul, being a newcomer to OCT's, did a great job for a first attempt. KaiHayasaka and EmberPheonix showed amazing teamwork, and I felt really connected to their characters. However, a winner had to be decided, and an extremely critical view had to be taken. It was during this serious combing that RB and I discovered a bombshell--literally. KaiHayasaka's entry used "inter-dimensional bombs." While the concept is admittedly cool, it flies in the face of the Sanguine universe's rules. I stated in the character creation rules that the character could be extraterrestrial, but not extradimensional, because there is no other dimension for them to come from. While trivial, if I let it slide it could snowball.

:iconorange-glory: + :iconebend: vs. :iconscixarite: + :icontrigger-of-time:
Condition: None, other than the universal and widespread conditions.
Winner:
:iconorange-glory: + :iconebend:
Reasoning: This was another crazy-close match (which shows that I did a good job matching ya'll up, right? :D). After spending a lot of time on this, and reading everyone's comments and such, I learned that some people involved would rather go on to other things in their life, which I understand completely. I would not like to do the disservice of forcing someone truly dedicated, as eBend has proven to be, to lose, when someone who would like to move on to other things wins.*** ToT is, of course, welcome to come back, and I would enjoy having Picoletto and the Shade continue to develop along with the Sanguine world. I wish Scixarite the best in whatever they chose to do.
***This comes up again in a moment, and I seem to contradict myself. I'll explain when I get there.

:iconlimeindacoconut: + :iconk33wi3: vs. :iconsomeguy0203: + :iconreality-break:
Condition: The entries must include a subtle reference to the movie City of Angels.
Winner:
:iconsomeguy0203: + :iconreality-break:
Reasoning: This was a win-by-default, sadly. However, as I promised a critique for these gentlemen, here it goes...Someguy continues to amaze and entertain, drawing us ever deeper into Paradont's inner struggle and ever closer to his ultimate goal. RB continues to grow along with his character, his lineart and dialogue getting better with each entry (having seen his progress over years, I can notice the little changes). The only complaints I would have are for Someguy to give more attention to his partner (he did really well with his opponents, but his partner was kind of in the background until the last part was recently updated) and for Rb to manage his time better and get things posted sooner (I understand RL issues, but I can't keep extending deadlines forever, guys).

:iconartist-mage: + :iconselecthumor: vs. :iconivoryfrost: + :iconglitch-of-perfection:
Condition: Each entry must incorporate a verse from the Bible. The choice of verse is individual, but I would rather everyone choose something different.
Winner:
:iconartist-mage: + :iconselecthumor:
Reasoning: Again, amazingly close. Both matches had incomplete fights paired with complete ones, and I had to go over different mediums to judge this one. Humor, as always, played true to his name and stuck to his guns. Glitch dug us deeper into Rosslyn's past. A-Mage continues to awe with beautifully crafted words, as does Ivory. So, I thought to myself, what to do? It came down to comparing the complete matches against one another, then comparing the incomplete matches against one another. Glitch's serious story and Humor's hilarious one were matched in my mind. Ivory, sadly, did not have much of a leg to stand on, having only about a page's worth of a story to A-Mage's intricate and ever-deepening multi-part entries. While Humor may be moving on to greener pastures, I feel confident that both Ivory and Glitch will come back and do well in the shotgun rounds, helping us keep this tournament running longer. Good luck in your future endeavors, Humor. Please, please stay with us Ivory and Glitch. A-Mage, you've earned your rightful place among the tourney's top contenders--bravo!

:icondragonsparda: + :iconshuakuma: vs. :iconjewelsparrow: + :icontainte-scribbles:
Condition: Lightning must strike nearby sometime during the match.
Winner:
:iconjewelsparrow: + :icontainte-scribbles:
Reasoning: This is, sadly, another win-by-default. While there were some issues with character representation, it's hard to argue that point when you did not post anything yourself.

:iconvoice-of-levity: + :iconsuperfruity: vs. :icontru-gamer3: + :iconlaughingastarael:/:iconbass-man:
((a.k.a. :iconvoice-of-levity: vs. :icontrugamer3: ))
Condition: The fight must be in the style of an epic chase scene (think Bond movies). I recommend a lot of discussion and planning, to decide who's chasing who and why.
Winner:
:iconvoice-of-levity:
Reasoning: Despite the trials and tribulations surrounding this match, both Levity and Trugamer managed to pull through without their partners, but still give attention to them. While Trugamer has shown improvement, it was Levity that really went above and beyond in this match. It was dramatic and detailed, and held very well to the feel of a chase scene. My suggestion: keep it up and don't slack off.

:iconadriapaladin: (P&D) + :iconathas: vs. :iconadriapaladin: (Hana) + :iconcairnthecrow:
Condition: The match must take place in or near the Dancing House (look it up). Additional conditions, but those will be revealed to you in the chat, and only in the chat, sometime this weekend. Please try to be there. [link] </div>
Winner:
:iconadriapaladin: (P&D) + :iconathas:
Reasoning: While JacobJohn gave a valiant effort, it's hard to fight two-against-one. Athas surprised even me in his completion of the secret conditions, and has forced me into finagling a way for Ileina to escape...and it's going to be a sorry excuse, because it's hard to get out of the situation he put her in! Adria is already a strong writer, and has potential to grow even more. If JacobJohn begins to learn from his sister (not like any little brother does so until it is too late), perhaps a rematch will be in order, and maybe it'll be one-on-one this time. :D

Critiques/Reasoning are currently being worked on/added, and they should be all in place by Saturday night. I'm currently also working on the Shotgun Round, so if you haven't noted me about it yet, I'd get on it soon.
I'll post how's it's going to work once it actually is closer to the time. Until then, everyone relax a little. Enjoy the break...Because from here on out, things are going to be a little hectic. :D

what is the point of second guessing? at some point you will get to the point asking yourself "what if i did something useful with my time and not think about what could have been?"

then you build a time machine...

well~ college isn't as hard as I thought it would be. So college isnt having much of an effect on my work. In fact... I think I may have more time... but that is only what I think at the moment..... Im not entirely sure if that will be the case later on.
:iconebend:
Ludren was on the chat today. He asked me to tell you that his entry might be uploaded a bit late
